Man caught in wreck saves dog from burning semi on I-64
Semi Truck Crash South Charleston West Virginia in South Charleston, West Virginia: A multi-vehicle crash involving a semitrailer occurred on I-64 near South Charleston, West Virginia, on Tuesday evening. A semitrailer veered from its lane and struck a dump truck, dragging it 400 feet and nearly catapulting it over the median. One man caught in the wreck, Kris Pelfrey, escaped his vehicle and attempted to rescue the semi's driver, Jeffrey Simons, 63, of Iowa, but could not rouse him; Simons died in the incident. Pelfrey did manage to pull a dog from the burning semitrailer before flames spread.
