Man caught in wreck saves dog from burning semi on I-64

A semitrailer veered from its lane into a dump truck, nearly catapulting the dump truck over the median and dragging it 400 feet. The dump truck passenger, Kris Pelfrey, escaped and attempted to rescue the semitrailer's driver, Jeffrey Simons, 63, of Iowa, but could not rouse him; Simons died in the incident. Pelfrey did manage to pull a dog from the burning semitrailer before police took the dog to a shelter.
