Assault Tams West Virginia in Tams, West Virginia: On June 20, 2026, at an event on Burning Rock Road in Tams, Raleigh County, West Virginia, 41-year-old Charles Frederick Austin allegedly brandished a firearm before intentionally driving an ATV into a crowd, injuring multiple people. Sheriff Frank Priddy said deputies initially responded to reports of an ATV accident and physical altercation. After reviewing video evidence and interviewing victims and witnesses, Austin was charged with 11 felony counts including five counts of malicious assault, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, and wanton endangerment involving a firearm. The investigation remains active and additional charges could be filed.
