Dog Bite Petersen Illinois in Petersen, Illinois: On June 24, 2026, around 3:26 p.m., a 59-year-old woman walking her dog at Petersen Park in McHenry was violently assaulted by Raymond P. Link, 49, of West Allis, Wisconsin, who beat, stomped, and strangled her in an unprovoked attack, causing catastrophic injuries including the loss of an eye, multiple broken bones, and permanent brain damage. A 37-year-old bystander intervened and called 911, suffering a broken clavicle and multiple dog bite injuries when Link turned his violence on him and ordered his unleashed dog to attack. McHenry Police officers responded and took Link into custody; he was later found guilty but mentally ill of attempted first-degree murder and six counts of aggravated battery.
