Bicycle Crash Durham North Carolina in Durham, North Carolina: Ben Turits, a former elite XCO mountain bike racer, was finishing a training ride in February when a pedestrian unexpectedly crossed his path. He compressed the bike, hopped to the right, clipped a tree with his handlebar, and was thrown over the bars, landing vertically on his head and compressing his cervical spine.
