Fired Titusville police chief refused to take drug test
Dui Crash Titusville Florida in Titusville, Florida: Titusville Police Chief John Lau crashed his city-owned police SUV at around 11:17 p.m. on Tuesday night outside of town and was taken to Parrish Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Deputy Chief Tyler Wright instructed a commander to request that Lau submit to alcohol testing via breath and/or blood draw to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash. Lau refused both tests, violating city personnel policy, and was fired the next day after meeting with city manager Thomas Abbate. The Florida Highway Patrol is handling the crash investigation.
