Car Crash Marengo Illinois in Marengo, Illinois: Two lawsuits have been filed in McHenry County court against the county and its Division of Transportation in connection with a crash near Marengo on June 23, 2025, that killed 11-year-old Alan Kroll of Wonder Lake. Alan was killed and his uncle, Steven Kroll, was seriously injured when their eastbound vehicle on Kishwaukee Valley Road was struck by an 18-year-old driver who ran a stop sign at the intersection of Deerpass Road-Menge Road and Kishwaukee Valley Road. The lawsuits allege the county knew about safety issues and a history of crashes at the intersection but failed to address them.
