Car Crash Evans Arkansas in Evans, Arkansas: An 84-year-old Evans man was killed Wednesday morning in a violent head-on collision on Washington Road west of Washington Commons Drive in Columbia County. Vernon Lewis, 84, of Evans, was driving a 2019 Nissan Versa westbound at approximately 10:14 a.m. when he traveled the wrong way and struck head-on a 2020 Chevrolet 2500 driven by 27-year-old Carter Anderson of Augusta. A 2025 GMC Yukon driven by 37-year-old Cayla Boothe of Evans swerved to avoid the collision. Lewis was pronounced deceased at the scene despite life-saving measures; Boothe was not injured and Anderson sustained minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.
