Dramatic footage shows plane’s emergency landing

Aircraft Coldfoot Alaska in Coldfoot, Alaska: A Wright Air Service Cessna Caravan made an emergency landing in the Brooks Range shortly after taking off from Coldfoot for Anaktuvuk Pass. The pilot reported the engine began surging and making an unusual whiny or groaning sound before the aircraft could no longer maintain altitude. One of nine passengers recorded video of the descent and the subsequent wait in remote terrain before a helicopter rescue. Federal investigators said the pilot suffered a minor injury, but the passengers were not hurt.
