Assault Florida Today in Florida: A Florida Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a white 2007 Ford Transit van on Interstate 95 near the Indian River County line in Brevard County around 5:45 a.m. on May 11 after the van was seen weaving in traffic and nearly clipping a semi-truck. All seven occupants bailed out of the passenger side and ran west into nearby woods. After 18-year-old Luis Angel Gomez Lopez of Orlando ignored repeated commands to stop, the trooper deployed his Taser twice, and both men tumbled down an embankment during the struggle. Gomez Lopez struck the trooper with a closed fist on the right side of his face before being handcuffed; he was evaluated on scene and taken to a hospital before being booked into Brevard County Jail.
