Drowning California City California in California City, California: A 12-year-old California boy, Fernando Torres Moreno, drowned in a pond at Central Park in California City on June 11 after jumping into the water to escape an attack by a pack of three dogs. The dogs' owner, 68-year-old Kenneth Dobbins, had brought the unleashed mixed-breed dogs to the park. Another girl found near Fernando was mauled and suffered horrific injuries. Doctors tried to resuscitate Fernando for hours before he succumbed to his injuries. Fernando and the other victim were two of four children attacked by the dogs; police later obtained a warrant and discovered Dobbins and the dogs had vanished.
