Bay Area pilot Michael Grimes of Concord dies in plane cras…

Aircraft Remote Alaska in remote, Alaska: Bay Area pilot Michael Grimes of Concord was killed in a plane crash in a remote mountainous area of Alaska near Kanak Island, approximately 40 miles southeast of Cordova. Alaska State Troopers were notified of an overdue aircraft on June 18; the plane was believed to be flying between Yakutat and Fairbanks with only the pilot on board. Rescue crews located the crashed plane the next day around 4 p.m. and the pilot was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
