A Fatal Tesla Crash in Texas Sets Up a Legal Showdown
Car Crash Home Georgia in home, Georgia: On a Texas evening last week, a Tesla Model 3 driven by 44-year-old Michael Butler crashed into the suburban home of 76-year-old Martha Avila at a reported speed of over 70 mph, killing her. Butler told police Tesla's driver assistance features were engaged during the crash, and the Harris County Sheriff's Office noted he showed no signs of intoxication. Avila's son-in-law Justin Barbour, who was also in the home, was injured in the crash. Avila's family is now suing both Butler and Tesla, alleging the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) feature was defective in design.
