Pedestrian Hit Newport Beach California in Newport Beach, California: A 41-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on East Coast Highway, west of Newport Coast Drive, in Newport Beach at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Bystanders performed life-saving measures until Newport Beach Fire Department personnel arrived, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Newport Beach police closed all lanes of East Coast Highway from about 1 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. to accommodate the Major Accident Investigation Team's investigation.
