Pedestrian Hit Newark New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey: Two women were killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing a street in Newark, New Jersey, after leaving a World Cup watch party on Saturday night. The driver struck them in the crosswalk and fled the scene. Both women were taken to University Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. A 26-year-old man, David J. Zapata-Vera of Newark, surrendered to police on Tuesday and was charged with two counts of second-degree vehicular homicide, two counts of second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, and two counts of third-degree endangering an injured victim.
