Pedestrian Hit Newark New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey: Two women were killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing a street in Newark, New Jersey, after leaving a World Cup watch party on Saturday night. Prosecutors said David J. Zapata-Vera, 26, of Newark, struck the women in the crosswalk and fled the scene before surrendering to police on Tuesday. The women were taken to University Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Zapata-Vera was charged with two counts of second-degree vehicular homicide, two counts of second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, and two counts of third-degree endangering an injured victim.
