Zapata-Vera of Newark, was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed two women who were crossing a street in New Jersey after leaving a World Cup watch party. Prosecutors said Zapata-Vera hit the women while they were using the crosswalk on Saturday night before fleeing the scene. He surrendered to police on Tuesday and was charged with two counts of second-degree vehicular homicide, two counts of second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, and two counts of third-degree endangering an injured victim. The women were taken to University Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
