Car Crash Ariel Washington in Ariel, Washington: A 17-year-old volunteer firefighter, Riggin Bliss, was injured in a head-on crash on Lewis River Road near Milepost 33 in Ariel, Cowlitz County, on Monday. According to Washington State Patrol, Bliss was driving southbound when another driver traveling northbound crossed into his lane and struck him head-on. Bliss was hospitalized and remains in the ICU. The other driver, 76-year-old John Jessup of La Center, was LifeFlighted to a local hospital and charged with vehicular assault.
