Pedestrian Hit Portland Oregon in Portland, Oregon: A 62-year-old Portland man, Richard Epton, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a fatal drunk-driving hit-and-run crash in 2024. Around 2:15 a.m. on a September night, Epton struck Victoria Jacob-Springer as she sat in the road near Northeast 85th Avenue and Fremont Street in Portland. Surveillance footage showed Epton paused for about 10 seconds before driving away, leaving Jacob-Springer in the road. Police later used surveillance footage to locate Epton and his truck, finding human tissue and DNA matching Jacob-Springer on the vehicle's underside.
