The victim suffered critical burns and extensive scarring and was transported to a hospital burn unit for intensive treatment of permanent and disfiguring injuries. Carrero pleaded guilty in March 2026 to a federal arson charge and was sentenced to five and a half years in federal prison in Manhattan federal court.
