Pedestrian Hit Newark Massachusetts in Newark, Massachusetts: A 26-year-old Newark man, Zapata-Vera, struck two female pedestrians in a crosswalk at the intersection of Park Avenue and North 7th Street in Newark on June 20, 2026, before fleeing the scene. Both victims were transported to University Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Zapata-Vera surrendered to police on June 23 and was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, and two counts of endangering an injured victim.
