Pedestrian Hit Las Cruces New Mexico in Las Cruces, New Mexico: Kimberly Ann Skaggs, treasurer of the Republican Party of New Mexico, was arrested on June 24, 2026, in Las Cruces on two felony charges: Leaving the Scene of a Crime and Tampering With Evidence. According to charging documents, the charges stem from a fatal hit-and-run in the Fairacres community west of Las Cruces, where a 40-year-old man was struck and killed while crossing Fairacres Road by a northbound vehicle. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Skaggs was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center.
