Heroism medal awarded for saving driver from sinking truck…
Car Crash Mississippi River Mississippi in Mississippi River, Mississippi: A motorist suffered a medical emergency while traveling on Interstate 90 on June 22, 2026, lost control of his vehicle at the Dresbach rest area in Winona County, Minnesota, and the vehicle went down a steep embankment into the Mississippi River about 60 feet from shore. A Massachusetts couple parked nearby saw the truck roll into the water; the woman called 911 while her partner dove into the river and pulled the semi-conscious, bleeding driver out through the rear door as the cab filled with water. The driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the rescuer was later awarded the Carnegie Medal for Heroism.
