EMR ‘deeply sorry’ after RAIB update on fatal Bedford crash

The collision occurred after the following train passed a red signal, with brakes applied only a few seconds before impact. The driver of the following train, 60-year-old Shaun Burton, was killed, and more than 100 passengers were injured. East Midlands Railway issued a public apology and pledged full cooperation with the Rail Accident Investigation Branch and the Office of Rail and Road.
