Hit And Run New York City New York in New York City, New York: An 18-year-old driver, Jayden Mendoza, was charged with attempted murder after a stolen silver Kia Sportage struck multiple NYPD officers in the Fordham section of the Bronx on Sunday evening. Officers had tracked the SUV via a license plate reader alert and surrounded it near 82 East Fordham Road, but Mendoza allegedly refused to exit and drove the vehicle back and forth, striking a sergeant and several other officers. An officer climbed onto the hood and fired a single shot, striking Mendoza in the arm; he was treated at Barnabas Hospital and remains in police custody. Several officers were transported to local hospitals with injuries, all of whom have since been released except one sergeant who remained hospitalized overnight for observation.
