Dog rescued from fatal semitruck crash, I-64, Charleston, WV
Semi Truck Crash South Charleston West Virginia in South Charleston, West Virginia: A fatal crash occurred on Interstate 64 west in South Charleston, West Virginia, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at about 5:30 p.m. A semitruck driven by Jeffrey Carl Simons, 63, of Wellsburg, Iowa, collided with a four-door Nissan sedan and a Dodge pickup truck, with the Nissan pinned under the rear of the semi. The semi caught fire and Simons died in the crash. No one in the passenger vehicles was injured. A dog in the semitruck was rescued unhurt and is being cared for by the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association. Westbound traffic was shut down for nine hours.
