Bay Area father of 2 killed in remote Alaska plane crash
Aircraft Alaska Today in Alaska: Michael "Mike" Grimes, a Bay Area father of two, died June 18 in a small plane crash in remote Alaska terrain. The overdue Piper Pacer was found near Kanak Island, about 40 miles southeast of Cordova, in mountainous terrain, by an Alaska Air National Guard helicopter crew. The plane was believed to have been flying between Yakutat and Fairbanks with only the pilot aboard. The cause of the crash has not been determined.
