Pedestrian Hit Newark Massachusetts in Newark, Massachusetts: Two female pedestrians were struck by a vehicle while in the crosswalk at the intersection of Park Avenue and North 7th Street in Newark on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The driver fled the scene. The victims were transported to University Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Zapata-Vera, 26, of Newark, surrendered to police on June 20, 2026, and was charged with two counts of second-degree vehicular homicide, two counts of second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, and two counts of third-degree endangering an injured victim.
