Hit And Run Carolina Beach North Carolina in Carolina Beach, North Carolina: A hit-and-run crash occurred on the 1400 block of Canal Drive in Carolina Beach, North Carolina, on Saturday, June 20, when a vehicle struck a parked vehicle and fled the scene. Carolina Beach Police Department officers identified the driver as Alicia Guadalupe Gonzalez-Mejia, 62, of Haw River, N.C. During the investigation, Wilmer Nexxai Gonzalez-Rivera, 37, of Graham, N.C., allegedly interfered with officers and assaulted an officer, and Gonzalez-Mejia also allegedly assaulted officers while they attempted to take Gonzalez-Rivera into custody. Gonzalez-Rivera sustained minor injuries during the incident and was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment. Gonzalez-Mejia was charged with DWI, hit and run causing property damage, open container after consuming, injury to personal property, assault on a government official, and resisting a public officer; Gonzalez-Rivera was charged with assault on a government official and resisting a public officer.
