Police Pursuit Crash Charlotte Alabama in Charlotte, Alabama: Robert Boggia Jr., 40, of Whiting, Maine, died in a single-vehicle crash on Charlotte Road in Charlotte, Washington County, shortly before 12:50 a.m. Saturday. Police said Boggia had threatened people with a firearm at a bar in Calais before fleeing, and was later spotted driving a red Chevrolet Corvette at an estimated 150 mph on Route 1 in Calais. Baileyville police and a Washington County Sheriff's deputy attempted to catch up with the vehicle but were unable to do so; the deputy later came upon the crash scene. Boggia was thrown from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene, with high speed cited as the most significant contributor to the crash; toxicology results are pending.
