A deputy attempted to investigate a suspicious vehicle shortly before 4 a.m., and the driver allegedly fled, striking a Madison County Sheriff's Office vehicle multiple times. The pursuit reached speeds of 80 to 90 mph through the Perrine, Aldergate and Highway 221 areas near Farmington before the vehicle crashed on Flat River Road, snapping a utility pole. An 18-year-old female passenger was flown to a St. Louis hospital with possible spinal injuries, and Peterson was transported to a St. Louis hospital as well.
