Car Crash Franklin Borough Delaware in Franklin Borough, Delaware: Kat VanAllen, of Franklin, was driving a Ford SUV on Route 23 in Franklin Borough shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, when her vehicle was struck on the driver's side by a northbound dump truck and pushed into the southbound lane, where it was struck again by a Toyota SUV. The dump truck then left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and came to rest in the backyard of a nearby home. VanAllen, a Sussex County EMT and longtime YMCA employee, later died from her injuries. Her teenage daughter, a passenger in the Ford SUV, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a local trauma center; the driver of the Toyota SUV and the dump truck operator were also seriously injured. The crash remains under investigation by the Franklin Borough Detective Bureau, the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office, and the New Jersey State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit.
