Pedestrian Hit Camillus New York in CAMILLUS, New York: On August 19, 2016, at approximately 8:40 a.m., a 2015 Freight-Van delivery truck operated by Charles L. Hotaling of Camillus was backing up in the parking lot of Dunn Tire at 3690 Milton Ave in the Town of Camillus after making a delivery. A pedestrian, identified as Lori A. Byrd of Syracuse, New York, walked across the parking lot and did not see the truck as it was backing. The freight truck struck Ms. Byrd, and the delivery van had to be lifted off her by responding personnel. She was transported to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse in critical condition. The Camillus Police Department, Fairmount Fire Department, WAVES Ambulance, and New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit responded or are investigating.
