Car Crash Ohio Today in Ohio: The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a marked OSHP cruiser on state Route 2 in Painesville Township, Ohio, that occurred Friday evening at approximately 8:51 p.m. A trooper was driving west on state Route 2 near state Route 44 when their patrol vehicle was struck head-on by a brown 2011 Toyota Scion traveling east in the westbound lanes. After initial contact, the Toyota caught fire. The driver of the Toyota, 61-year-old Jerry Alberico of Mentor, was pronounced dead at the scene. The trooper sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Tri-Point Medical Center in Concord Township for treatment.
